The Isle of Man Employers' Federation was established after the First World War with the objective of re-securing apprenticeships for returning soldiers and ensuring there was a skilled workforce to meet the Islands demands.
Membership of the Isle of Man Employers' Federation is open to all. The core membership is traditionally contruction contracting organisations, but current memberships includes business from security, quarrying, logistics, manufacturing and retail.
Membership offers a range of services to members designed to meet the needs of most
businesses, including advice on employment issues, dealing with Government, and legislative requirements. More specific advice is available to businesses operating within the
construction indusrty such as conditions of contract, disputes and self-employment.
In recent years the Federation has developed excellent relationships with Government, and
meets with the Ministers of those Departments concerned with a number of construction related issues on a regular basis. The Federation also negotiatesthe terms of the Joint Industrial Council Building Industry Working Rules with the appropriate trade union bodies.
